Proper care of your golf clubs helps them perform better for longer and prevents issues like rust or preventable damage which isn't covered under manufacturers warranty.
Here are some simple, practical tips that work for both stock and custom clubs.
1. Regular Cleaning
After every round, clean your club heads, shafts, and grips.
Use a soft brush and mild soapy water. Gently remove dirt, grass, and debris.
Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive pads- these can damage finishes and materials.
We have a range of handy products for this HERE
2. Dry Your Clubs Thoroughly
Always wipe your clubs dry with a towel after cleaning or if they get wet.
This is one of the most important steps to prevent rust and corrosion, especially on metal parts.
Old towels or rags work fine, otherwise we have a range of golf towels which you can find HERE
3. Look After Your Grips
Check your grips regularly for wear, cracking, or loss of tackiness.
Clean them with warm soapy water.
Replace grips when they become slippery or feel worn- good grips help you maintain control and comfort.
We offer an extensive range of the latest and most popular grips HERE
4. Store Your Clubs Properly
Keep your clubs in a cool, dry place away from extreme heat, cold, or humidity.
Use headcovers on woods and putters at least (we know iron covers aren't for everyone), to keep them protected from nicks and scratches.
Always make sure both your clubs and bag are completely dry before putting them away.
If you lose your head cover, don't worry. We don't sell model specific replacement headcovers, however you can pickup a replacement aftermarket cover HERE
5. Regular Checks & Professional Servicing
Periodically inspect club heads, shafts, ferrules, and other components for any looseness or damage.
For adjustments, regripping, or deeper maintenance, bring them back to us- we’re happy to help keep your clubs in top condition.
6. Protect Your Clubs During Use and Travel
Avoid hitting rocks, hard surfaces, or using excessive force.
Use a well-padded golf bag for transport.
Never leave your clubs in the car for long periods (especially in hot weather).
If you're playing a course that you know has rocks or gravel off the fairway, it's recommended to carry an old mid-iron, using this exclusively from any lies that would damage their gamer set. Definitely worth considering.
Wear Expectations
Even with excellent care, some wear is inevitable due to the nature in which they're used and club materials. and repeated impacts. Forged irons are made form soft metals for enhanced feel, making them particularly susceptible to bag chatter and cosmetic marks. Keep this in mind when evaluating club condition, however following the 6 recommended steps above will ensure your clubs remain in the best condition possible.
